GREEK GOD URANUS

The Greek God Uranus, also know as Ouranus and Coelus, was the Sky God and First Ruler, Gaia was his mother, but then he became her partner and both had many children, including the 12 Titans.

Greek God Uranu

Some believed that Gaia didn't created Uranus by herself, but that his father was Aether, while others think he was born from The Chaos.

Uranus does not appear on Greek art from the early days, but in Egypt he was portrayed as a gigantic star spangled man that has long arms and legs.

There is not much know about the Greek God Uranus, probably the next myth is the most well know, if not the only one know about him:

Uranus was so vast, that he was able to cover Gaia, and used to fornicate with her every night. Finally Gaia got tired of this abuse and bored a lot of children thanks to her high fertility, but they were sent to Tartarus by Uranus as soon as they were born.

Gaia asked for help to her children, but only one of her children, the youngest, Cronus, came to her aid. Then she created a flint-bladed sickle and gave it to Cronus, so he could castrate Uranus.

And so, Cronus took the sickle and went after Uranus, and castrated him. When Uranus blood felt on Earth, the Meliae, Erinyes and Giants were born, the genitalia felt on the sea, and from the sea foam, was created Aphrodite. Then, Cronus threw the sickle to the sea, and from it, it sprang the Island of Corfu.

After the castration, the sky didn't cover Earth anymore, splitting one from the other, after this, Uranus was know as the sky, and was believed he was held by the Titan Atlas.

This way Cronus took Uranus' place as leader, but not before Uranus and Gaia prophesied that as punishment for this act, Cronus would be overthrown by one of his own children, being Zeus who full filled this prophecy.
